How to make suet pudding

Roast suet pudding is a somewhat forgotten dish that’s in desperate need of a comeback. Made with suet, which is most commonly known for its use in dumplings, suet pudding is a delicious addition to a roast dinner, especially roast pork. Suet pudding is oven-cooked, giving it a crisp outer crust and soft, spongy interior. It’s ideal for soaking up gravy on your roast, and the flavour complements the dinner. Find out how to make this simple side dish in our suet pudding recipe below.

        What is suet pudding?

Suet pudding is a traditional British side dish, frequently served with roast dinner, particularly pork. It has a crisp outer crust and soft inside, making it a great alternative to a Yorkshire pudding.

Suet is the hard, raw fat found around the kidneys and loins of cattle and sheep. Suet can also be used to make dumplings, pie pastry and sweet desserts, and is often fed to birds.
