Ingredients

  • Black pudding
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 150g cheddar cheese
  • 200g breadcrumbs - panko works best
  • 2 eggs
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  • Step 1

Scrub your potatoes then add to a large pan of cold water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 6 minutes

  • Step 2

Once cool enough to handle, grate the potatoes onto a clean tea towel. Squeeze out any excess water

  • Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, cheddar, garlic salt, onion powder and seasoning. Then crumble in the black pudding and stir

  • Step 4

With your hands, mould the mixture into balls about an inch in diameter

  • Step 5

In a large pan, heat your oil until bubbling. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the breadcrumbs to another bowl

  • Step 6

Dredge your tater tots in the egg, then breadcrumbs. Deep for 3 to 4 minutes. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Remove and put on a plate topped with kitchen roll.
