Diced chicken is a popular option whether you’re knocking up a delicious chicken pasta, a tikka masala or maybe a chicken pie. But unless you’re a professional chef, you may be slightly worried about cooking chicken for long enough.
But don’t worry, our expert butchers are on hand to guide you through cooking diced chicken, from prep to cooking times.
Chicken is a really versatile meat to cook. Whether you’re frying, air frying, oven cooking or barbecuing, it’s simple to do. But people can tend to overcook chicken, impacting the flavour and texture.
Before you start cooking, dry the chicken and season well with salt, pepper and other flavours like garlic powder, chicken seasoning and more.
Follow the below to cook your chicken for the perfect time.
To cook your diced chicken in a pan, heat your oil and add the chicken for 3 to 4 minutes. Let it sit before flipping and cooking for another 2 to 4 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C before adding it directly to an oiled tray. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes before turning and cooking for another 4 to 6 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 200°C. Add the chicken to an oiled baking tray for around 20 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking.
Chicken will cook quickly on a barbecue. Cook over indirect heat for around 5 to 8 minutes, stirring every few minutes.
The best way to check your chicken is with an internal meat thermometer. It should be at least 74°C in the centre.
If you don’t have a thermometer, you can do a visual check. Cut the thickest piece in half and check it’s white all the way through with no pink. The juices should also run clear. >
Yes, it’s best to rest your chicken for up to five minutes after cooking. This helps the moisture redistribute, improving the texture and flavour.
